Empowering Young Minds: S2 Computer Literacy "AI for Social Good" Project Competition

The Secondary 2 Inter-Class "AI for Social Good" Project Competition was held successfully on 30 June 2026 in the School Hall. Serving as the capstone of the Secondary 2 Computer Literacy curriculum, the project was co-organised with the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) under the "CUHK Jockey Club AI for the Future Project" to foster digital literacy, design thinking, and social empathy in our young boys.

Throughout the term, the entire S2 cohort engaged in an intensive, project-based learning journey. Grounded in the principles of Design Thinking, students progressed through systematically structured stages: from empathising with vulnerable groups and defining real-world problems using generative AI tools, to ideating and comparing distinct, AI-supported solutions. The students then applied their technical competence to construct physical, working prototypes using the iPort systems—a specialised hardware platform developed by CUHK for real-time edge AI, computer vision, and sensor integration.

The final competition in the School Hall showcased the culmination of our students’ diligence and creativity. Six finalist groups, representing the absolute best of their respective classes, presented their physical prototypes and conducted live, real-time demonstrations on stage. Handling complex hardware, cameras, and code under the pressure of live stage demonstrations showed a level of maturity and agility that went far beyond typical junior secondary expectations. The projects tackled critical societal needs, ranging from postural health monitoring and smart lifestyle aids to elderly dietary safety.

We were highly privileged to have an expert judging panel comprising representatives from CUHK, alongside our Principal, Mr. CHAN Cheung-wai Eric. The judges commended our students' technical skills, innovative thinking, and, most importantly, their compassion in using technology to serve the wider community.

Generously sponsored by CUHK, the winning teams were awarded book coupons. In addition, the top three winning teams were invited to participate in a post-activity learning experience interview to share their learning processes, reflections, and insights with the CUHK research team.

Congratulations to all S2 boys for their outstanding effort and remarkable achievements.
