Chinese Tea Culture Heritage

2024-11-13
Our school’s Chinese Tea Culture Heritage Programme, co-organised by the Shine Tak Foundation, has successfully concluded. The programme started in late September, with a tea art instructor coming to the school to conduct weekly tea classes. About 40 students successfully completed the 7-week programme under the careful guidance of the tea art instructor. A Chinese Tea Culture Heritage Programme Graduation Tea Ceremony cum Cultural Promotion Day was held on 13th November, 2024. Our school was honoured to have the presence of Mr. SZE Chun-fai, Jeff, JP, Under Secretary for Education, and a number of other distinguished guests , including Mrs. Tung Ng Ling Ling Christy, JP, Chairman of the Shine Tak Foundation, and Ms. Xiao He Yuan Feng Amy, MH, Vice Chairlady, and Mr. IP Moon-tong, MH, Director. Three teachers from Fukien Secondary School and a representative from the HHCKLA Buddhist Chan Shi Wan Primary School also joined our school principal, parents, teachers and students in the graduation achievements together. During the ceremony, Xie Ho-chi from Class 5B, Lau Yiu-him from Class 5C, and Zhang Letian Austin from Class 2D were selected as the school’s Tea Culture Ambassadors. They demonstrated tea art on the spot and served tea to the guests. Afterwards, all tea art graduates were divided into six groups to introduce the green, yellow, white, lime, red and black tea series. The students behaved gracefully and calmly while showcasing their learning achievements to the guests. Every attendee enjoyed the event tremendously. After the tea art session, our guests enjoyed some remarkable performances organised by our school’s Tea Club, Chinese Society, Reading To Read, and the Courier Editorial Team. Gu Yan-ho from Class 4A played the song “The Galloping War Horse” on Erhu. Our award-winning alumnus, Leung Yat Sing, then performed Tai Chi Sword. Finally, the Chinese Society prepared an interesting quiz game for the attendees, whose attention was then drawn to the tea-related books on display, carefully selected by the Reading To Read Team. The Courier Editorial Team not only served as Masters of Ceremonies throughout the event, but also worked with the Tea Club to make beautiful malt candies in the shapes of dragons, butterflies, and the Chinese character for “tea”.
