The Visual Arts Department organised visits to the Tai Kwun and art gallery for S3 to
S6 students on 05 Oct 2022. Participants were impressed and inspired by the way
the internationally renowned Swiss media artist, Pipilotti Rist, expressed herself in her
artworks at the exhibition “Behind your Eyelid”. The students were embraced by
sounds, colours, and moving images by walking through the installations, which
opened up explorations of the body and the image of exterior environments and
interior mindscapes.
The exhibition of “Nine Abysses《九淵》displayed the Chinese paintings of an alumnus,
CHUI Pui-chee. His works were remarkably magnificent, particularly the series of “Nine
Abysses” which reflected his life experiences and emotions. When we looked closer at
the painting, we found details of the pine trees and needles. He mixed traditional ink
.with charcoal powder to enhance the darkest part of the painting since the original
colour of the paper was gold and silver. His wonderful and unique technique inspired
students to explore more possibilities to make creations in a more presentable way.
